We have had a busy week, with volunteers travelling to Tijuana to help serve food to over 800 migrants at Padre Chava, Border Angels Mexico (Angeles De La Fonterra) hosting the graduation for the first Hair Styling class for deported mothers that was supported by Mrs. Elia Astiazarán, Rosa Altagracia Lopez Guerrero of the Family Integral Development Department, Baja Government, Delia Avila Suarez, director of Baja California Migrant Attention Counsil, Father Jesus Arambarri, director of Father Chava Organization, Margarita Andoanagi Padilla, General Coordinator of Padre Chava Organization, Charo Lozada, migrant assistant as well as Border Angels Mexico President Laura Diaz Soberanis.

Border Angels Program Manager Dulce Aguirre was also featured in a great article in the South Western College Sun:

«Aguirre said that perhaps the most prominent contribution Border Angels makes is assisting men and women who work as day laborers, migrants looking for any temporary day jobs, usually near the Home Depot stores. Border Angels volunteers brief day laborers on their rights and advise on ways to stay safe.

“Many immigrants are unaware of their rights,” Aguirre said. “I think just by hearing their stories, a lot of them are afraid.”»

Schools from around the country have also participated inDay Labor Outreach, Desert Water Drops and Visits to Friendship Park.

We have a lot of events coming up where you can be active in the community

This April’s event will highlight participating organizations, their mission, and each organization will have representatives on hand who can tell event attendees how to get involved in the important work they do. This is a FREE event for organizations and attendees.

Children’s Day – April 30
Children’s Day (Día Del Niño) is just around the Corner. Hosted on both sides of the US/Mexico Border at Border Field State Park and Friendship Park in Tijuana, where the emergency gate will open and some families will be able to hug their loved ones for a short period of time. For more information on this very emotional day and why we need humane immigration reform and media enquiries please contact [email protected].  Border Angels volunteers will be on both sides of the Border helping to make this a special day for children, giving out toys etc.
