The north of Mexico has been low-key popping when it comes to live music and festivals. Pa’l Norte, Festival NRMAL (before its Mexico City relocation), and the now defunct All My Friends Fest are all examples of the musical prescience that has always existed in Mexico’s northern regions. The latest addition to your list of can’t-miss-events is Say North Festival, coming to Tijuana on August 20. Organizers are looking to bridge the musical gap between Mexico’s northern and southern regions while also broadening Tijuana’s festival landscape.
Say North’s lineup is strong, featuring talent from across the country and ranging from rock to hip-hop and electronic artists. Highlights include The Chamanas from Juárez,Sotomayor and The Guadaloops from CDMX, and rowdy Tijuana hometown heroes San Pedro El Cortez. International talent comes in the form of Mariel Mariel, the Mexico City-based Chilean MC, as well San Diego bands Minor Gems and Oak Palace. The festival has also left plenty of room for local acts to rep their city, booking the likes of Shantelle, Ratigan, and Omar Vox, among many others. As per usual, the festival will be rounded out by a slew of local vendors and food trucks, promising to cover all your munchie and merch needs.
Say North Festival takes place Saturday, August 20, 2016 in Tijuana.
